How do we do it?
Boardroom Metrics’ approach addresses the point Ram Charam raised in his book “Owning UP: the 14 Questions Every Board Member Needs to Ask”. In particular, Ram Charam says “When you have eight to twelve people around the table, group dynamics and chemistry are fundamental”.
The Process:
The initial step is to work with the board chair to discuss the Board issues and challenges and the engagement scope, agreed upon timeframe, etc. Once the Board has engagement Boardroom Metrics, a Board DNA specialist will have a conversation with the Board Chair to establish the date and review what will be communicate with the Board as a whole. This introduction conversation with the whole Board will explain the process and answer questions, and generally last about 30 minutes.
The next step is for every Board member to complete two online assessments which do not have to be completed in one sitting. A member can start and stop their input until they completed their input. Once their input is complete, they will receive an individual report based upon their input.
When every Board member has completed their input, our consultant will conduct the analysis and facilitate a Board session. During this meeting, the team’s results will be presented and the facilitator will lead the group in developing a playbook to increase the group’s effectiveness and use the unique characteristics and behaviour traits of each Board member.
